Our Story
Bunnik Travel was established by Marion Bunnik and her two sons, Sacha and Dennis, in 1994. The agency quickly developed a reputation for innovation and personal service.
This innovative approach saw us develop sports training camps in conjunction with local sporting associations. Soon we were attracting professional Japanese soccer and track cycling teams to Australia and then in 2000 we managed the pre-Olympic training camps for some 1,200 athletes and officials from 23 countries including Russia, Austria, Sweden, Canada, Japan and Kenya. We’re very proud that ‘our’ athletes won just under 50 medals in Sydney! Sports travel still forms a key part of our company today.
As our business grew we were honoured to be named Australia’s best travel agency at the National Travel Industry Awards in 2000, 2001 & 2003, being the first agency to ever win this prestigious award 3 times.
In 2004 we expanded our growing in-house tour program to launch Bunnik Tours. Again innovation played a key role as we saw a real need for tours specifically designed for those in their middle years who had been forgotten by other companies targeting only the younger and older age groups. Thus the Not too young & not too old concept was born!
In that first year we offered 15 different itineraries with a total of 46 scheduled departures. Now in 2008 we offer some 50 tours with over 360 scheduled departures!
Throughout our rapid growth over the past 14 years we have always stayed true to our strong family values. Customer service, innovation, value for money and delivering real customer satisfaction are the key factors that govern our daily actions.
