Itinerary
Day 1 Santiago
Upon arrival into Santiago, you check-in to your airport hotel for an overnight stay. Tomorrow your amazing Amazon Jungle experience begins!
Day 2 Santiago – Iquitos – Amazon Jungle
This morning you take a short flight via Lima to Iquitos, the largest city in the Peruvian Amazon, where you take a boat ride to your jungle lodge. On arrival you will be welcomed with a cool refreshing drink while your guide explains your program for the coming days. This afternoon you have the opportunity to go Piranha fishing and see the beautiful Victoria Regia lilies. [B,L,D]
Day 3 Amazon Jungle
After breakfast you travel by boat to a river village, here you will visit a school and get a unique insight into how the local people live. Later this afternoon, you enjoy a hike into the rainforest reserve where your knowledgeable guide will explain the medicinal purpose of the various Amazon plant species. [B,L,D]
Day 4 Amazon Jungle
Today’s touring includes a morning visit to Monkey Island, a 200-hectare private reserve which is home to a number of monkeys including wooly tamarins and marmosets. After lunch you head to the Yagua village for a blow gun demonstration and a cultural performance by the local Indian people. Later enjoy a river cruise where you can watch for pink dolphins, which are known to be found in this part of the Amazon. This evening there is the opportunity to take a walk in the rainforest where you will experience the unique sights and sounds of the many nocturnal animals who call the jungle home. [B,L]
Day 5 Iquitos - Lima
This morning you travel by boat and car to the Mazan Markets on the Napo River. This is where the local farmers and hunters of the Napo River deliver their wares. Later in the afternoon you transfer back to Iquitos where you meet your return flight to Lima. [B]
