Itinerary
Day 1 Cairo - Bahariya Oasis
Today you will travel by private vehicle 360km south-west of Cairo to the Bahariya Oasis. Once here you will enjoy a fun 4WD tour of El Qasr, the old mudbrick village. You also pass through colourful palm groves, fruit trees and rice fields: agriculture in the area dates back thousands of years. Your trip continues through sand dunes to the Black Mountains. At sunset you can climb to the ruins of English House for breathtaking views over the dunes and surrounding areas before continuing to the hotel for dinner. [D]
Day 2 Bahariya Oasis
After breakfast you take an exciting 4WD safari to the Black and White Deserts. You'll enjoy a stop at the Black Pyramids before continuing on to the small oasis of El Heiz. As you journey into the White Desert, you get to experience some of the most beautiful desert scenery including 'The Acacia Tree' and the bizarre mushroom formations. This evening you enjoy a stunning desert sunset before a traditional Bedouin barbeque under the stars. [B,D]
Day 3 Bahariya Oasis - Cairo
This morning you will visit the Greco/Roman mummies, also known as 'the Golden Mummies,' at the Antiquities Office. You then continue on to see the two coloured tombs of the 26th Dynasty, the Temple of Ain El Maftela and the Temple of Alexander the Great. Later you travel back to Cairo by private vehicle. [B]
