2010 Escorted Tours
It's with great pleasure we are able to announce our 2010 escorted tour program. Marion Bunnik will be escorting our 29 day Mexico & Cuba tour. Our escorted tours are always very popular and usually sell out in advance - so early booking is recommended.
Mexico and Cuba
The Mexico & Cuba tour is 29 days in length and the departure date Marion is escorting leaves Australia on 20 November.
Marion says, "I can’t wait to return to Mexico and Cuba. I last escorted this tour in 2007 and it ranks as one of my all time favourite trips. Mexico was the biggest surprise to most of the group. It has always been a relatively unknown tourist destination from Australia but has so much to offer. From the hustle and bustle of Mexico City to the delightful country towns of Oaxaca and San Cristobal de las Casas you’ll love Mexico! The people are wonderful with a laid back lifestyle centred round good music, food, drink and having a good time. Interspersed with this are the most incredible historical and cultural riches. The ancient Mayan pyramids of Uxmal and Chichen Itza defy belief and the beauty of Palenque is breathtaking. The cultural riches continue as we discover the power of the traditional shaman and visit the important pilgrimage site of Guadalupe near Mexico City."
Then it’s off to Cuba. Marion's tip here is to see it now before the sanctions are lifted and it changes forever. The tourism infrastructure is poor but what the country lacks in efficiency it makes up many times over in its natural beauty, cultural diversity and friendly charm. Our tour provides a unique insight into modern Cuban life, its colourful history (including of course the revolution) and some of its natural beauty. Marion recalls, "One of the highlights of the last trip was a visit to a local school near Santiago de Cuba on the Island of Gran Ma. Here we had the opportunity to tell one of classes about Australia – it was great fun and the kids loved it. It was a really amazing experience and we arranged for a subsequent group to drop off some books and maps."
