Chile Earthquake

Update 1 - Monday, 1 March 2010

The situation on the ground is still in a state of change thus information coming out of South America is changing on a regular basis.  We are working with our partners (airlines and ground operators) to assess the situation and assist affected passengers.

Clients Currently in South America
We have a number of passengers currently in South America including a group in Peru.  No passengers are currently in the affected areas and we are working with our local operators to reschedule travel arrangements around Santiago where necessary.

Marion Bunnik (co-owner of Bunnik Tours and the company’s Product Director) is currently travelling with our group in Peru and is helping to coordinate any changes required.

Clients Due to Travel in the Next 14 Days
We have a number of passengers due to depart in coming days – both individual travellers and a group departing on 9 March.

The airport in Santiago is currently closed due to damage to the terminal building.  We are awaiting advice from LAN and our local operators as to when the airport will re-open and whether passengers will be able stay in Santiago.

We are working on each client on a case by case basis – this is being coordinated by our Operations Manager Annelieke Huijgens.  At this stage we expect the 9 March tour to operate as normal with some small changes required to reduce time spent in Santiago.

All affected clients will be contacted individually as we receive further updates.

Clients Due to Travel from April Onwards
We expect that flights will all be operating as normal into and out of Santiago by this time.  Tours will therefore operate as normal.  However some sightseeing in Santiago is likely to be affected.

Machu Picchu is expected to reopen in early April.  As such all tours from early April will operate as normal.
