China Silk Road photo

Travel along the legendary Silk Road, the most famous of all ancient trade routes. You'll love its historic cities, lively bazaars, barren deserts, soaring mountain peaks and hidden treasures.

Marvel at the Terracotta Warriors and Horses
Our tour of China starts in Beijing where there is time to relax and unwind after our journey before enjoying an authentic welcome dinner of Peking Duck. From Beijing our China tour heads to Xi’an where we pick up the beginning of the Silk Road. The first stop on our incredible journey is the impressive Shaanxi History Museum. This is followed by an incredible visit to the amazing terracotta Warriors and Horses – one of the greatest archaeological finds of the 20th century.

Be amazed by China's history

The next stop on our tour of China is the Jiayuguan Pass at the western end of the Great Wall and the nearby overhanging Great Wall which dates back to the Ming Dynasty. From here we continue through the desert to visit the famous Magao Caves. Created over 1,000 years ago, the caves are a treasure trove of Buddhist sculptures, murals and carvings.

Haggle at the colourful Kashagr bazaar

Our stunning journey across China continues through the stark beauty of the Gobi Desert towards Kashgar. In Kashgar we visit the stunning Lake Karakuri, beautifully located at the base of snow-covered Mt Maztagata, and the bustling Sunday bazaar, considered the most important market along the Silk Road.  The next stop on our journey along the Silk Road is Urumqi where we visit the Heavenly Lake and have a chance to shop at their buzzing market which is filled with clothing, crafts and carpets. Lastly we visit Chengdu where we meet the loveable pandas - China’s most iconic symbol.
