He is amazed, because never in his 16 years of guiding, has he seen a group who hates free time like we do, we always want him with us to explain things as we go while he prefers to explain first and allow us to explore. New Year's Eve on the boat was a blast, in fact our time on the boat was so relaxing and the standard of accomodation and food better than we expected. I have told Vicki that Jerry's concerns regarding safety, too much walking and the lugging of luggage from place to place were unfounded. We have felt completely safe and as for the luggage we have heaps of it and to date i have not picked up one bag yet! Thanks again for you well wishes and see you when we return."

We travelled at a time when the protests in Tahrir Square and elsewhere in the country were at their peak and during the start of the long term electoral process. We could not have felt safer throughout the whole tour. The Egyptians are a warm and very hospitable people. Our guide Eman was everything we could have wished with her passionate enthusiasm for the history and culture of Egypt. We learnt so much from one of the great Egyptologists and saw so much that we will treasure for ever. "The trip was wonderful and exceeded our expectations. We have toured South America with GAP tours and China with another group but this was the best organised and most enjoyable tour we have had. There were several highlights. The best country highlights were Ankor Wat and Halong Bay but this was only just ahead of the tour guides in Vietnam (Cuong Le Viet) and Siem Reap (Sothy Phong). These 2 guides were excellent in their customer focus and service.They both went beyond the expected. Then of course there was the food – beautiful exotic Vn and Cambodian food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The guides ensured we had a good variety of local food at an excellent price and in excellent locations."

It was basically 3 holidays in one with the Egypt segment focusing on the unmatched history of Egypt and seeing the extensive sites there and enjoying the Nile cruise.
