Independent Petra Currency
In Jordan:
The national currency is the Jordanian dinar, abbreviated and generally referred to as JD. The dinar is divided into 100 piasters or 1,000 fils. For example, a price of 3.750 means 3 dinars and 750 fils. Major credit cards are widely accepted in hotels, upmarket shops and restaurants. It is best to carry local currency in smaller notes or coins, as vendors never seem to have change. It is also very handy when you like to give a tip. Jordanian currency should be left in the country, therefore exchange your currency prior to leaving.
