Japan Update

Updated, Wednesday 16 March 2011, 1.00pm EST

As you will be aware, Japan was struck by a major earthquake and tsunami on Friday 11 March 2011. This disaster is centred in the area of Tohoku several hundred kilometres north east of Tokyo.

Bunnik Tours would like to express its sincere condolences to all those people affected by this terrible event. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Japanese people at this time and we wish them all the strength in the months ahead.

Bunnik Tours has had a very long and close relationship with Japan – we’ve been bringing Japanese sporting groups and tourists to Australia for the past 14 years, we have two Japanese staff members and have been running tours to Japan for the last 5 years. Japan is therefore very close to our heart.

It is with relief that we can advise that the family of both our Japanese staff – Yoshie and Reiko – are safe and well. Also, our partners in Japan and all their staff are safe and accounted for.

Bunnik Tours currently has no clients in Japan.

We have been keeping in close contact with our suppliers and operators in Japan, and although they have confirmed that tours can proceed, we believe it is in the best interest of our clients to cancel the upcoming tours to Japan:

26 March
2 April
9 April

We wish our suppliers and friends in Japan all the best and hope for a quick recovery.

We will continue to monitor the situation in Japan closely and will update our clients regularly.
