Bhutan - Kingdom of Bhutan Itinerary

Day 1  Paro - Thimphu
Welcome to Bhutan, known as 'Land of the Thunder Dragon'. On arrival you will be met by your guide and transferred to the capital,  Thimphu. [D]

Day 2  Thimphu
Today you enjoy a sightseeing tour of Thimphu. One of the highlights is a visit to the late King’s Memorial Chorten. One of the most visible structures in the capital, it has become the focus of daily worship for many Bhutanese. We also visit the National Library, Drubthob Nunnery, Folk Heritage Museum, Takin Preserve and the school of arts and crafts. [B,L,D]

Day 3  Thimphu - Punakha
Drive to Punakha, the old winter capital and enjoy the spectacular scenery as the road climbs over the Dochu La Pass at more than  3,000m. See views of the eastern Himalayas including Bhutan’s highest mountain, Gangkar Punsum at 7,550m. In the afternoon, you hike through a lovely village to Chimi Lhakhang, the divine mad monk’s temple, then drive to Wangdue to view Wangdi Phodrang Dzong, a fortress built in 1638 in central Bhutan. Day 4  Punakha - Paro
You depart this morning for Paro travelling via Thimphu. Upon arrival at Paro you visit the old watch tower “Ta Dzong” (now the national museum) before continuing to the impressive Rinphung Dzong where the Hollywood movie 'Little Buddha' was filmed. [B,L,D]

Day 5  Paro - Hike to Takstang
Today’s adventure includes a hike to Tiger’s Lair, one of Bhutan’s most famous
monasteries located on the face of a sheer 900m cliff above the Paro Valley. For the adventurous, there are several challenging hikes to many temples, monasteries and retreat houses in the area. [B,L,D]

Day 6  Paro
After a scenic drive you arrive at Chele La Pass at 3,900m and enjoy a hike on a short descent below the pass. At the end of your hike, you'll be rewarded with amazing views of the fertile Paro Valley below. Upon returning to Paro, experience a typical Bhutanese village home and cooking demonstration of local delights. [B,L,D]

Day 7  Depart Paro
Bid farewell to Bhutan as you transfer to Paro International Airport for your departure. [B]
