India by Rail - Palace on Wheels Itinerary

Day 1 Delhi
The journey of a lifetime begins as you are traditionally welcomed at the Delhi Safdarjung railway station from 4.00pm before the Palace on Wheels pulls out into the night for a week long luxury ride through fascinating Rajasthan. [D]

Day 2 Jaipur
The first stop is Jaipur, capital city of Rajasthan and popularly known as the “Pink City.” See the Hawa Mahal, tour Amber Fort where elephant rides are available to climb the hill, enjoy lunch at a 5 star hotel and continue to City Palace Museum and Observatory. [B,L,D]

Day 3 Sawai Madhopur - Chittaurgarh
Today you can search for tigers at the Ranthambore National Park! The park is considered one of the country’s best for observing and photographing the activities of the tiger. Return to the train and continue to Chittaurgarh watching the colourful countryside passing by. On arrival visit the magnificent fort before continuing to Udaipur. [B,L,D]

Day 4 Udaipur
Arrive at Udaipur, one of India’s most romantic cities also known as the “Lake City”. Visit the 16th century City Palace, followed by lunch at a 5 star hotel and a boat ride on Lake Pichola. [B,L,D]

Day 5 Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer lies in the heart of the Thar desert. Discover the intricately latticed havelis with their grand facades, shop for beautiful shawls, mirror work, silver jewellery and curios. Enjoy a sunset camel ride on the sand dunes. [B,L,D]

Day 6 Jodhpur
Jodhpur is Rajasthan’s second largest city and is surrounded by a high stone wall with seven gates and several bastions. Visit the rock-solid Mehrangarh Fort featuring grand palaces showcasing impressive examples of architectural excellence. [B,L,D]

Day 7 Bharatpur - Agra
Visit the world famous bird sanctuary, Keoladeo Ghana National Park and enjoy a rickshaw ride through wetlands discovering the many species of birds. Continue to Agra to visit the famous Fort and India’s most famous monument to love - the Taj Mahal. [B,L,D]

Day 8 Delhi
Early arrival into Delhi Safdarjung railway station. Disembark after breakfast. [B]
