Patagonia Adv 2010 Itinerary

 

Day 1 Arrive in El Calafate
Welcome to El Calafate, the gateway to the heart of Patagonia and its majestic world of glaciers. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel where the rest of the day is at leisure to relax and unwind.

Day 2 Perito Moreno Glacier
Enjoy a full day tour exploring Los Glaciares National Park including the stunning Moreno Glacier, one of the few advancing glaciers in the world. Watch as huge pieces of ice break apart and crash into the beautiful lake below. [B]

Day 3 El Calafate
Patagonia means adventure! From the high mountains to the Patagonian steppe, it's all here! Today is at leisure to further explore this region. For the adventurous, there are many optional activities such as hiking, horseback riding, 4WD excursions and archaeological sites to discover. [B]

Day 4 El Calafate - Puerto Natales
Travel by public bus across the border to Puerto Natales, Chile (approx 5 hours). Puerto Natales is located on the banks of the gulf of Ultima Esperanza and was founded in 1911. It is the gateway to visit Torres Del Paine, the Cave of the Milodon or the glaciers in the Campos de Hielo Sur. [B]

Day 5 Torres del Paine National Park
Today visit one of the world's most spectacular national parks. Torres del Paine offers a huge variety of plant and animal species in a beautiful setting of snow-capped mountain peaks, cascading rivers and waterfalls, glaciers and mirrored lakes. Your full day tour includes Cueva del Milodon, located on the slope of the hill Benitez. You also hike to the Grey Glacier, a massive natural ice construction of unique beauty. It is also possible to find a "nunatak", a piece of land that divides the glacier in two, creating an island in the middle of the glacier, where people can disembark and walk for a little while. Day 6 Puerto Natales - Punta Arenas
This morning you travel to Punta Arenas. Once a thriving port, this seaside city is considered to be the planet's southernmost city. With colourful houses and a beautiful natural landscape, Punta Arenas is the starting point for excursions to some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. [B]

Day 7 Depart Punta Arenas
Transfer to the airport for departure. [B]

Please note: this itinerary can also be done in reverse if travelling from Chile to Argentina.
