Day 1 Depart Australia
Day 2 Arrive in Barcelona
Hola, welcome to Spain! On our arrival we will be met by our friendly guide and transferred to our hotel. The afternoon is at leisure before tonight’s welcome dinner. [D]
Day 3 Barcelona
Barcelona is the second-largest city in Spain and the capital of the Catalonia region. Our tour of this cosmopolitan city includes Via Laietana, the Barcelona Cathedral and its cloisters, the Gothic Quarter and the Plaza San Jaume. The afternoon is at leisure, giving you a great opportunity to head to the lively streets of Las Ramblas. [B]
Day 4 Barcelona
Our sightseeing of Barcelona continues as we pay homage to some of Gaudi’s incredible architectural gems including the unfinished masterpiece, the Holy Family Basilica. Another highlight of today is the Plaza Cataluña. [B]
Day 5 Barcelona - Valencia
We enjoy an afternoon sightseeing tour of Valencia, featuring the old part of the town and including the Cathedral with its octagonal bell tower which is also the symbol of this historic town. [B]
Day 6 Valencia - Granada
We continue along the spectacular Mediterranean coast to the historic city of Granada. Along the way we pass through Alicante and the ancient Moorish city of Murcia. [B]
Day 7 Granada
We begin our city tour of Granada by walking through the old part of the city and visiting the Royal Chapel, where King Ferdinand and Queen Elisabeth are buried. We also visit the famous palace of Alhambra. This stunning Moorish Citadel is one of Spain’s most famous attractions. Our tour also includes the nearby Generalife Palace with its 14th century summer gardens. [B]
Day 8 Granada – Tangier
Today we say farewell to Spain as we board our ferry to Morocco, a country of stunning desert scenery and colourful bazaars. On our arrival we are met by our local guides and enjoy a tour of Tangier. [B,D]
Day 9 Tangier - Fez
Our journey to Fez is via the impressive Roman ruins of Volubilis and the lively old medina in Meknes. [B,D]
Day 10 Fez
Today is dedicated to Fez, the oldest of Morocco’s four Imperial Cities and the symbolic heart of Morocco. We explore the narrow lanes of the World Heritage-listed medina and see the Karaouine Mosque, a centre of Islamic learning for centuries. [B,D]
Day 11 Fez - Merzouga
This morning we depart for Midelt via the Middle Atlas Mountains. Tonight we travel by 4WD to stay in a traditional Moroccan kasbah. [B,D]
Day 12 Merzouga – Ouarzazate
We rise early to see the sun rise over the spectacular dunes of the Sahara Desert - an unforgettable experience! We then continue over the Atlas Mountains with breathtaking views of the Gorges du Todra. [B,D]
Day 13 Ouarzazate
Today we explore Ouarzazate including Ait Benhaddou, one of the most spectacular of the Atlas Mountains’ villages. [B,D]
Day 14 Ouarzazate - Marrakesh
We travel to Marrakesh via the Tizi n-Tichka Pass. At 2,260m we’ll experience a variety of beautiful and impressive landscapes in the heart of the Atlas Mountains. [B,D]
Day 15 Marrakesh
Today we explore Marrakesh, the ‘Pearl of the South’. Our touring includes the lively Djemaa el-Fna Square, Dar Si Said Museum and the famous Koutoubia Mosque. This evening we enjoy a typical dinner in a local Moroccan restaurant. [B,D]
Day 16 Marrakesh - Casablanca – Rabat
We tour Casablanca, the city made famous by Humphrey Bogart. Highlights include the central market, Hassan II Mosque and Ain Diab Esplanade. We then continue to Rabat where we visit the Royal Palace, Hassan Tower and the Mohammed V Mausoleum. [B,D]
Day 17 Rabat – Seville
We farewell Morocco and travel by ferry back to Spain and then drive to the historic city of Seville. [B]
Day 18 Seville
We enjoy a half-day sightseeing tour of Seville. Our tour includes the two most important highlights of central Seville – the Cathedral of Santa María and the Royal Alcazar and Arabic palace from the 14th century, which today is the residence of Spain’s king. We end with a nice walk through the historical Jewish section called Santa Cruz. The afternoon is at leisure to explore on your own or relax in one of the many cafes. [B]
Day 19 Seville – Madrid
Our day begins with a half-day sightseeing tour of Cordoba, which was once a Roman and then an Arabic city. Our tour includes a visit to the Mosque and the Cathedral of Cordoba as well as a walk through the streets of Barrio de la Judería, known for its interesting interior patios. We then board the high-speed AVE train to Madrid. [B]
Day 20 Madrid
Today we tour the Spanish capital of Madrid, once the richest and most powerful city in the world. Our tour includes all the highlights of this grand royal city, including the beautiful Plaza Mayor and Retiro Park. [B]
Day 21 Madrid
This morning we enjoy an excursion to the historic town of Toledo. In the afternoon we return to Madrid where you are free to explore on your own or live like a local
and siesta! [B,D]
Day 22 Depart Madrid
The morning is at leisure before we bid farewell to Spain and begin our journey home. [B]
