Day 1 Depart Australia
Your tour begins today! Depending on your Australian departure city it will either be a night in Asia before connecting to Hanoi or an overnight flight to Hanoi.
Day 2 Arrive in Hanoi
Good morning Vietnam! We’re finally here! Our friendly guide will take us from the airport to our hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax, unwind and re-charge before tonight’s welcome dinner. [D]
Day 3 Hanoi
Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is a city of lakes, shaded boulevards and public parks. Our full-day tour of the city includes the One Pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem Lake, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the National History or the Ethnology Museum. [B]
Day 4 Hoa Binh
A fascinating day as we head into the hills of Hoa Binh Province. This region is home to numerous hill tribe people including the H’mong and Tai peoples. We enjoy a traditional dance and music performance then return to Hanoi. [B]
Day 5 Hanoi - Halong Bay
Bring your cameras today – we’re heading for the water wonderland of Halong Bay! We cruise among dozens of rocky outcrops and islands that dot the bay and overnight on a traditional Huong Hai junk boat. Enjoy dinner on deck while the sun sets over the ocean: you’ll get to try some of the freshest seafood you have ever eaten. [B,L,D]
Day 6 Halong Bay - Hanoi
More cruising along Halong Bay today as we visit more beautiful islands and caves. Later on we leave our boat and travel by road to Hanoi. [B,L]
Day 7 Hanoi - Hoi An
Today we fly to Danang before driving past the scenic Marble Mountains to the historic town of Hoi An. [B]
Day 8 Hoi An
Hoi An has hardly changed in centuries, and the centre is still car-free - allowing us to enjoy a wonderful morning exploring the cobblestone streets by cyclo. The afternoon is at leisure. [B]
Day 9 Hoi An - Saigon
We drive back to Danang for our onward flight to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), where tonight we enjoy a Saigon River dinner cruise on a Bonsai junk. [B,D]
Day 10 Saigon
This morning we explore bustling Saigon. Highlights include the French-style Notre Dame Cathedral, the Reunification Palace, the chaotic Ben Thanh market and the very moving War Remnants Museum. This afternoon is at leisure. [B]
Day 11 Saigon - Mekong Delta
This morning we head out of the city for a tour of the Cu Chi Tunnel complex. We then continue to the Mekong Delta, Vietnam’s rice bowl. [B]
Day 12 Mekong - Chau Doc
We get up early to catch all the action of the Cai Rang Floating Market.,,the most lively market in the delta. We continue on to Chau Doc where we climb with the pilgrims to the top of Sam Mountain for a fantastic view all the way to the Cambodian border. [B]
Day 13 Chau Doc - Phnom Penh
Today we take an exciting speedboat ride to the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh. Phnom Penh is the wealthiest and most populous city in Cambodia. It is also the commercial, political and cultural hub of the country and is home to more than 2 million people. Our city tour includes the Royal Palace and the sprawling Russian Market. [B]
Day 14 Phnom Penh
Enjoy a day at leisure or take an optional, moving visit to the infamous Killing Fields. [B]
Day 15 Phnom Penh - Angkor Wat
This morning we fly to Siem Reap and commence our sightseeing at Angkor Wat. In 1992, the whole of the Angkor Wat complex was granted UNESCO World Heritage status. It is considered one of the world’s most amazing attractions. Tonight we watch the sunset from the upper terraces of an ancient Angkorian temple. [B]
Day 16 Angkor Wat
A second day of sightseeing at Angkor Wat, including the Terrace of the Elephants and Ta Prohm where the jungle has not been cleared and the temples look much the same as they were when first discovered by European explorers. This ancient site has been the backdrop to many films including most recently ‘Tomb Raider’, featuring Angelina Jolie. Tonight we enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant. [B,D]
Day 17 Depart Siem Reap
Morning at leisure before we are transferred to the airport to begin our journey home to Australia. [B]
Day 18 Arrive in Australia
