Winelands. Staying on a beautiful wine estate, you’ll enjoy tastings at local wineries and wander through the old town of Stellenbosch, trying the local delicacies. Craft four different types of dough at a bread making class in Franschhoek’s Moreson Winery and bring your apron and recipes home as a souvenir.

The smoke that thunders

Witness thundering Victoria Falls, forming the natural border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, the world’s largest waterfall and a truly spectacular sight. Cruise along the Zambezi at sunset and explore the trails to the 16 viewpoints.

Wildlife Wonders

Fly north to mesmerising Zambia, home to an incredible diversity of wildlife. Enjoy game drives through South Luangwa National Park, one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world and walk in the footsteps of Zambian explorers on a famous ‘walking safari’. Every year when the mangoes are ripe (Oct-Dec) a family of wild elephants visit Mfuwe Lodge. Led by their matriarch Wonky Tusk they carefully make their way through the Lodge's reception area and onto the the grounds where the mango tree stands. Then experience the contrasts in scenery and animals in beautiful Lower Zambezi National Park, explore by canoe, bush walk or river safari and fish for the prized African tiger dish.

Day 1. Depart Australia

Day 2. Arrive Cape Town

‘Welkom’ to Cape Town! Meet your tour guide and fellow travellers for a welcome drink this evening.

Day 3. Cape Town - Stellenbosch

This morning we’ll discover the cosmopolitan city on a sightseeing tour, including the Malay Quarter, Company Gardens and Table Mountain (weather permitting). We’ll then depart for the famous Cape Winelands. Our first stop is the town of Paarl, famous as the birthplace of Afrikaans as a written language, and here we’ll visit the Afrikaans Language Museum. As we continue towards Stellenbosch we’ll stop for a tasting at a local estate. This evening we’ll enjoy a group welcome dinner. [B,D]

Day 4. Stellenbosch

Today we discover historic Stellenbosch, South Africa’s oldest town, on a cuisine walk. We’ll try indigenous tea and rusks, snack at a family-run butchery, enjoy the local wines accompanied by South Africa’s favourite foods and try Cape desserts. [B,L,D]

Day 5. Stellenbosch - Cape Town

We’ll return to Cape Town this afternoon, stopping for picturesque views of Table Mountain at Blouberg Strand. [B,L]

Day 6. Cape Town - Victoria Falls

This morning we fly to Victoria Falls, the world’s largest waterfall, forming part of the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. Tonight we’ll relax on a sunset cruise along the Zambezi River. [B]

Day 7. Victoria Falls

A morning guided walk takes us through lush rainforest to the spectacular falls. Explore the trails and take in the amazing view from the 16 viewing points! [B,D]

Day 8. Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) - Victoria Falls (Zambia)

Today we cross the border into Zambia via the famous Victoria Falls Bridge. Once in Zambia, we’ll visit Mukuni Village, home to the Leya people. Here we’ll see the village homes, Chief Mukuni’s palace, and try the traditional cuisine. [B,D]

Day 9. Victoria Falls - South Luangwa National Park

This morning we fly to Mfuwe in South Luangwa National Park. [B,D]

Day 10. South Luangwa National Park

After an early breakfast we depart for a morning game drive as the rising sun bathes the park in beautiful hues. South Luangwa has been dubbed one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world, and not without reason! Enjoy lunch back at the lodge before an afternoon game drive. [B,L,D]

Another day of amazing game drives in this stunning national park. [B,L,D]

Day 12. South Luangwa National Park - Lower Zambezi National Park

Today we fly to beautiful Lower Zambezi National Park, on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. Encompassing the Zambezi escarpment, the park slopes down to the river and is teeming with wildlife in its valley. [B,D]

Day 13. Lower Zambezi National Park

Our lodge offers various activities such as river safaris, bush walks, canoe safaris and cultural village tours. You can choose how to spend your morning and afternoon exploring the amazing area. [B,L,D]

Day 14. Lower Zambezi National Park

Enjoy another day discovering more of this UNESCO World Heritage-listed park. [B,L,D]

At Bunnik Tours we don’t put specific age limits on our tours, but we also recognise some travellers may find our itineraries challenging.
We have a duty of care to all tour participants and the tour guides, so we do impose a firm policy on the level of fitness required by all our clients to attempt to ensure your safety and the safety of other travellers on our tours.
At Bunnik Tours our goal is for all our travellers to enjoy their tour, not struggle through it! Which is why we want to work with you to ensure you are on the best possible trip for your fitness level. We do reserve the right to refuse bookings if we feel that the requirements of the tour are too demanding.
Bunnik Tours are for independently minded travellers with good levels of mobility.

Our tours include:

3. Local and authentic experiences including various modes of transport and accommodation

In some regions travellers can also expect:
1. Long days of travelling, at times on dirt and gravel roads in Africa
2. Extended periods at high altitude (3,000-4,000 metres) in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Ethiopia
3. Extended periods of walking/hiking through humid forest areas in Rwanda, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Mexico and Costa Rica
4. Limited medical facilities in remote areas

Bunnik Tours travellers are required to at least:
1. Be able to walk 2-3 hours on uneven surfaces
2. Walk up multiple flights of stairs and short, steep hills
3. Stand for 20 minutes without needing to sit down, often in hot/humid climates
4. Carry their own luggage
5. Get on and off various modes of transport without assistance, including small boats

After take-off you will fly out over the Victoria Falls where your pilot will fly left and right hand circuits over the falls in both directions. Continuing the flight downstream over the Batoka Gorge, experience the natural beauty of this awe-inspiring dramatic feature, following the mighty Zambezi as it carves its way between steep cliffs. Includes return transfers from your Victoria Falls hotel. Excludes Park Fees and Government Fees of USD$14pp, which are to be paid locally to the operator.
