Discover the magic of Cape Town 

We begin our journey in cosmopolitan Cape Town, where we'll explore the iconic Table Mountain (weather permitting) and Bay Harbour Market. Nestled at the eastern foot of majestic Table Mountain, the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens is one of Cape Town's treasures. We'll also explore the stunning landscapes. Making our way to the quaint town of Franschhoek, we'll enjoy a tasting at the award-winning Boschendal Wine Estate.

Amazing Hwange 

See amazing wildlife in Hwange National Park, the largest nature reserve in Zimbabwe. Hwange's grasslands and mopane woods are home to elephants, lions and African dogs.

Thunderous waterfalls

Cruise along Lake Kariba, the world's largest man-made lake, and enjoy the spectacular views across these beautiful waters. Witness the mighty Victoria Falls, a truly beautiful and spectacular sight. Day 1. Depart Australia

Day 2. Arrive Cape Town

‘Welkom’ to Cape Town! Meet your tour guide and fellow travellers for a welcome drink and dinner this evening. [D]

Day 3. Cape Town

We discover this cosmopolitan city on a sightseeing tour this morning. Highlights include the iconic Table Mountain (weather permitting) and the Bay Harbour Market, said to be the most vibrant market in Cape Town.We'll then stop for lunch at Groot Constantia. Dating back to 1685, this is the oldest wine producing estate in South Africa. Nestled at the eastern foot of majestic Table Mountain, the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is one of Cape Town's treasures. We'll explore the stunning landscapes this afternoon. [B]

Day 4. Cape Town - Franschhoek 

This morning we make our way to Stellenbosch. Located in the heart of the wine region, Stellenbosch dates back to 1679 and is the second-oldest town in South Africa.

L’Ormarins is our next stop this afternoon, where we will enjoy a MCC wine and artisanal nougat paring before arriving in the quaint town of Franschhoek. [B,L]

Day 5. Franschhoek - Johannesburg 

We'll transfer to Cape Town Airport this morning for our flight to Johannesburg. Tonight, we'll enjoy an group dinner. [B,D]

Day 6. Johannesburg 

We'll begin today by exploring Satyagraha House, the Apartheid Museum and the former houses of Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi. We’ll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before exploring the Hector Pieterson Memorial and Mandela House. [B,L]

Day 7. Johannesburg - Bulawayo - Matobo Hills 

This morning we'll fly to Bulawayo, the second largest city in Zimbabwe.

We'll then transfer to Matobo Hills. [B]

Day 8. Matobo Hills 

Our day is spent discovering Matobo Hills. We'll visit the resting place of Cecil John Rhodes, founder of Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe and Zambia). We’ll then enjoy a traditional Zimbabwean lunch at Amagugu International Heritage Centre and visit the neighbouring local villages Later this afternoon, we return to the lodge for sundowners and dinner. [B,L,D]

Day 9. Matobo Hills - Hwange 

We'll transfer to Hwange National Park, the largest nature reserve in Zimbabwe. This afternoon, we'll enjoy our first game drive. Hwange's grasslands and mopane woods are home to elephants, lions and African dogs. [B,L,D]

Day 10. Hwange National Park 

Our day is spent discovering more of spectacular Hwange on morning and afternoon game safaris. This evening we'll enjoy a boma dinner back at the lodge. [B,L,D]

Day 11. Hwange - Lake Kariba

We'll enjoy breakfast before travelling to Lake Kariba, the world's largest man-made lake. This afternoon we board our houseboat.

Day 12. Cruising Lake Kariba 

We'll experience a full day of cruising around Lake Kariba. You can sit back and admire the spectacular views, participate in fishing or enjoy a water-based game activity. We'll arrive at Elephant Bay this afternoon, where we'll enjoy an excursion. [B,L,D]

Day 13. Lake Kariba - Victoria Falls 

After breakfast, we'll disembark and travel to Victoria Falls, one of the world's largest waterfalls. This evening we'll enjoy a boma dinner, including traditional dancing and drumming. [B,D]

Day 14. Victoria Falls 

This morning we'll take a guided walk through the lush rainforest to the spectacular thundering falls. Explore the trails and take in the amazing view from the 16 viewing points!

At Bunnik Tours we don’t put specific age limits on our tours, but we also recognise some travellers may find our itineraries challenging.
We have a duty of care to all tour participants and the tour guides, so we do impose a firm policy on the level of fitness required by all our clients to attempt to ensure your safety and the safety of other travellers on our tours.
Our goal is for all our travellers to enjoy their tour, not struggle through it! Which is why we want to work with you to ensure you are on the best possible trip for your fitness level. We do reserve the right to refuse bookings if we feel that the requirements of the tour are too demanding.
Bunnik Tours are for independently minded travellers with good levels of mobility.

Our tours include:
1. Generous amounts of free time
2. Lots of walking
3. Local and authentic experiences including various modes of transport and accommodation

In some regions travellers can also expect:
1. Long days of travelling, at times on dirt and gravel roads in Africa
2. Extended periods at high altitude (3,000-4,000 metres) in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Ethiopia
3. Extended periods of walking/hiking through humid forests
4. Limited medical facilities in remote areas

Bunnik Tours travellers are required to at least:
1. Be able to walk 2-3 hours on uneven surfaces without the use of any walking aid, on any given day
2. Walk up multiple flights of stairs and short, steep hills
3. Stand for 20 minutes without needing to sit down, often in hot/humid climates
4. Carry their own luggage
5. Get on and off various modes of transport without assistance, including small boats

Portswood Hotel Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Cape Town

Shashani Matobo Hills

Shashani Matobo Hills has 10 individual en-suite lodges, which are comfortably furnished and have private verandahs. Each lodge is spaced widely on the edge of a huge rock dome with views over a wooded valley and the characteristic granite dwalas.

The main building has a comfortable lounge and bar with adjoining dining room, all open-fronted towards the breathtaking view, and a large fireplace takes the chill out of winter evenings. The swimming pool is ideally placed to gather the sun’s warmth and to offer beautiful views over the surrounding landscape whilst relaxing.

Less than an hour’s drive through beautiful landscape, you can visit the iconic giraffe paintings at Nswatugi Cave or Worlds View and Cecil John Rhodes’ Grave.

In the north west of Hwange National Park, lies Camp Hwange. Owned by top Zimbabwean professional guide, David Carson, the camp provides a unique 'bush' feel with an emphasis on safari experiences. 

Sovereign Houseboat, Lake Kariba

Sovereign is a five star luxury catamaran cruiser that boasts 10 fully air conditioned en suite cabins. Designed and built by Mr Tony Turner, his many years of experience in boat building and attention to detail has resulted in a vessel that never fails to impress. (Similar houseboat may be used alternatively)

Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, Zimbabwe

Victoria Falls Helicopter Tour –

After take-off you will fly out over the Victoria Falls where your pilot will fly left- and right-hand circuits over the falls in both directions. Continuing the flight downstream over the Batoka Gorge, experience the natural beauty of this awe-inspiring dramatic feature, following the mighty Zambezi as it carves its way between steep cliffs. Includes return transfers from your Victoria Falls hotel. Excludes Park Fees and Government Fees of $15pp US, which are to be paid locally to the operator.
