Itinerary

Abbreviation: [B,L,D] Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 1.  Cairo - Giza

Welcome to Egypt. Home to ancient wonders, incredible monuments and fascinating cultures! This evening you’ll enjoy a welcome dinner in Giza. [D]

Day 2. Giza

Your touring in Egypt today begins at the oldest structures in existence, the amazing Great Pyramids of Giza, where construction began approximately 4,500 years ago. You’ll visit the nearby Great Sphinx, with the body of a lion and the head of a king, often referred to as the national symbol of Egypt. You’ll also discover the ancient capital of Memphis and the incredible Step Pyramid of Sakkara, believed to have been designed by the famous vizier of King Zoser, Imhotep. [B]

Day 3. Giza - Luxor

This morning you transfer to the airport and fly to Luxor in Upper Egypt. Here you’ll explore the fascinating Karnak Temple, dedicated to the Pharaoh Amun. Approximately 30 pharaohs contributed to the temple’s structure over time, which explains its monumental size! You’ll then visit Luxor Temple, which was once connected to Karnak Temple by a 3-kilometre-long Avenue of Sphinxes. Luxor Temple is also home to a striking 25-metre pink granite obelisk, which was part of a matching pair until the 1830s when one was given to France. It now stands in the centre of the Place de la Concorde in Paris. [B]

Day 4. Luxor

Your first stop today is a visit to the impressive Valley of the Kings. Carved deep into the limestone rock, each tomb has a similar pattern of three corridors, an antechamber and a sarcophagus chamber. You’ll be able to descend into some of the tombs to see examples of the elaborate and incredibly well-preserved hieroglyphic paintings. Your next destination is the Temple of Hatshepsut. Queen Hatshepsut was one of only a few women to be given the title of pharaoh. You’ll then visit the Colossi of Memnon. [B]

Day 5. Luxor

Enjoy the day at leisure to relax or explore at your own pace. Why not visit the village and experience local life? [B]

Day 6. Luxor - Aswan

Today you drive to Edfu where you’ll visit the magnificent Temple of Horus, honouring the Falcon God. This beautiful ancient temple is one of the best-preserved in Egypt and the second-largest after Karnak Temple. You then visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the gods Sobek and Haroeris, before continuing to Aswan this evening. [B]

Day 7. Aswan

This morning you’ll explore Aswan, home to many significant archaeological sights. Highlights of your sightseeing include the High Dam, the picturesque Philae Temple on Agilkia Island, and the Unfinished Obelisk. This afternoon you’ll unwind and relax on board a traditional felucca sailboat as you sail around Kitchener’s Island. [B]

Day 8. Aswan

Enjoy the day at leisure to relax or explore at your own pace. Why not visit the lively souk in Aswan for an interesting look into local life? [B]

Day 9. Aswan  - Cairo

This morning you’ll transfer to the airport for your flight to visit the must-see, incredible twin temples of Abu Simbel. The temples were originally carved out of the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BC, as a monument to himself and his queen, Nefertari. Later you'll fly to the bustling city of Cairo. [B]

Day 10. Cairo

You begin today in the heart of lively Cairo with a visit to the world-famous Egyptian Museum. You’ll then visit the 12th century Saladin Citadel of Cairo and the Mohammed Ali Mosque. Your last stop is the 14th century Khan el-Khalili Bazaar. Tonight you’ll enjoy a farewell dinner. [B]

Day 11. Cairo

Transfer to the airport for your onward journey. [B]
