Description

Israel is a country of amazing diversity and beauty with a complicated and fascinating history. It is an undeniably stunning part of the world. From the crumbling temples, abandoned forts, ancient towns and hundreds of Biblical sites, to the spectacular nature reserves, golden beaches and rolling deserts, Israel has sights which will leave you breathless. Choose one of two itineraries, either ex Jerusalem or ex Tel Aviv.

Jerusalem, Bethlehem & Biblical Highlights

On our Ex Jerusalem Itinerary, you'll visit Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of the city. Then stop at Mount Zion to visit King David's Tomb, room of Last Supper and the Dormition Abbey. Enter the Old City and walk through the Armenian and Jewish quarters to the recently excavated and restored Cardo, the Roman road. See the Jewish Wailing Wall, the Kotel, and continue to the Christian quarter. Walk along the Via Dolorosa and visit the Church of Holy Sepulchre. Then head to Bethlehem, birthplace of Jesus. Walk through the Manger square to visit the Church of Nativity and view the Shepherds' field. Travel the coastal road and the landscape of the lower Galilee to Nazareth, the town where Jesus spent his childhood, then visit the Basilica of Annunciation and the Church of St. Joseph. Head to Tiberias, the lively resort town on the Sea of Galilee. Drive along the Kineret Lake to Capernaum and view the ruins of the ancient synagogue where Jesus taught. Then journey to Tabgha and visit the Church of Multiplication of the Fish and Loaves with a beautiful mosaic floor. End on a relaxing note at peaceful Yardenit, the famous baptismal site where the Jordan River flows out from the Sea of Galilee to the Dead Sea.

Western Galilee, Massada & the Dead Sea

On our Ex Tel Aviv Itinerary travel along the coastal road to Caesarea, the ancient Roman capital and port. Enjoy a walking tour of the theatre and the archaeological ruins and excavations. Continue to Haifa for a scenic view of the City, the Port and the magnificent Bahai Gardens and Shrine. In Rosh Hanikra descend by cable car into the underwater grottoes and admire the spectacular natural formation. Then journey on to Acre, the Old City recognised by UNESCO as a world heritage site. Walk through the market, the mosque and the old port, visit the remarkable underground Crusader City and crypt and learn about their fascinating history and culture. Visit the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth where you can float on the salt-rich waters before heading to Massada. Here you'll ascend by cable car and tour the mountain fortress built by King Herod, where the Zealots of the first century made their last stand against the Romans.
