Jordan is full of treasures just waiting to be explored. Discover the incredible Lost City of Petra and marvel at the wonders of the ancient Nabataean civilisation, and head into the desert to camp overnight in breathtaking Wadi Rum. Explore ancient Roman ruins and float in the Dead Sea.

Your tour begins in Amman, where you’ll visit the beautifully preserved Roman cities of Uum Qais and Jerash before travelling to Mt Nebo, the biblical site where Moses is said to have been shown the Promised Land. Then spend the afternoon immersed in the salty waters and therapeutic mud of the Dead Sea, the lowest place on Earth! Head south to Wadi Rum, where you’ll explore the unique desert landscape on a camel safari, then spend an unforgettable night camping under a sky of a million stars.

The incredible lost city of Petra awaits you. Enter the city through the Siq, a narrow, 800 metre long gorge, flanked on either side by soaring 80 metre high cliffs. One of the world’s greatest treasures, Petra is a vast, unique city carved into the sheer rock face more than 2000 years ago.

Please note: We are sure you will have a fantastic time in Jordan. Marion Bunnik has just finished travelling through Jordan on an inspection visit and has noticed that Jordan has had an enormous influx of tourists over the past couple of years. As a result of this, the infrastructure that is usually enjoyed by tourists in well developed countries can often be stretched and therefore, inconsistent. This may mean that there may be noticeable differences in standards, including vehicles, hotels and guides. Bunnik Tours always endeavours to provide the best touring experience possible and recommends that everyone who visits Jordan, do so with an open mind and flexibility.

Day 2. Jerash Excursion

Heading out of Amman, stop in the city of Madaba, where you’ll visit the Greek Orthodox Church of St George. Then travel to the biblical site of Mt Nebo, where Moses is said to have been shown the Promised Land. Continue south to the Dead Sea - the lowest point on Earth. The salt content of the water here is four times that of most oceans, so you can float without even trying. Take a dip and cover your body in the therapeutic mud, said to have amazing benefits for skin. [B,L,D]

Day 5. Dead Sea - Wadi Rum

This morning continue south to Wadi Rum. Later take a camel ride through the unique landscape carved by nature: the natural rock bridges, towering rose sand dunes and vast peaks are stunning. Spend the night in a Bedouin style desert camp under a blanket of stars. [B,L,D]

Day 6. Wadi Rum - Petra

An early start for an exciting jeep tour guided by local Bedouin tribesmen. En route to Petra this afternoon, stop to visit the ruins of “Little Petra”. [B]

Day 7. Petra

Entrance to the city is through the Siq, a narrow, 800m-long gorge, flanked on either side by soaring cliffs. [B]
