Day 3. Giza Excursion

Our touring in Egypt begins at the oldest structures in existence, the amazing Great Pyramids of Giza. We'll visit the nearby Great Sphinx, with the body of a lion and the head of a king, often referred to as the national symbol of Egypt. We'll also discover the ancient capital of Memphis and the Step Pyramid of Sakkara, believed to have been designed by the vizier of King Zoser, Imhotep. We'll then visit the Pyramids of Dahshur. Here we'll see the 'Bent' and 'Red' pyramids built by King Senefru. [B]

Day 4. Cairo

After breakfast we head to the lively heart of Cairo to visit the world-famous Egyptian Museum, home to Tutankhamun’s priceless treasures and many other historic artefacts.

Special-Experience-Icon-30px

Cruise-Icon-30px

Embark Cruise: This afternoon we board our Nile River cruise ship.

Special-Experience-Icon-30px

Special Experience: We set off on our opulently appointed dahabiya, where we will spend the next week sailing in luxury.

We cross the Nile to the West Bank and Valley of the Kings and explore some of the tombs carved deep into the limestone rock. Each tomb is elaborately painted with rich colours and hieroglyphics, honouring the tomb's occupants. We next continue to the adjacent Valley of the Queens, the impressive necropolis for Egypt's ancient queens. We also visit the Temple of Medinet Habu, housing incredibe reliefs of the defeat of the Sea People during Ramses III reign. [B,L,D]

Day 6. Nile Cruise

Today we’ll discover the fascinating Karnak Temple, dedicated to the Pharaoh Amun. Approximately 30 pharaohs contributed to the temple’s structure over time, which explains its monumental size! We’ll then visit Luxor Temple, once connected to Karnak Temple by a 3-kilometre-long Avenue of Sphinxes. Luxor Temple is also home to a 25-metre pink granite obelisk, which was part of a matching pair until the 1830s when one was given to France. It now stands in the centre of the Place de la Concorde in Paris. [B,L,D]

Day 7. Nile Cruise

SIt back and relax as our dahabiya sets sail for Edfu this morning, crossing the lock at Esna and continuing south. [B,L,D]

Day 8. Nile Cruise

This morning we visit the magnificent Temple of Horus, dedicated to the Falcon God. This beautiful ancient temple is one of the best-preserved in Egypt and the second-largest after Karnak Temple. [B,L,D]

Please note: Due to local laws and regulations, the only mode of transport available to visit the Temple of Horus in Edfu is by horse and carriage. Unfortunately, some neglectful owners cruelly mistreat their animals. While our guides always endeavour to arrange healthy, well-treated horses with responsible owners for our transport in Edfu, ultimately it is your decision if you wish to partake in the included sightseeing. If you do not wish to participate, you are welcome to explore Edfu independently, or stay on board the cruise to enjoy the ship’s facilities.

Day 9. Nile Cruise

We cruise to the riverside Temple of Kom Ombo today, dedicated to the gods Sobek and Haroeris, before continuing to Aswan this evening. [B,L,D]

Day 10. Nile Cruise

Enjoy a day at leisure relaxing and taking in the landscape and local life as we cruise the Nile. [B,L,D]
