Our tour starts in ancient Egypt where we visit all the must-see sights as well as enjoy a 4-night Nile cruise. Byzantine Castles & Olive Pies

Welcome to Cyprus, an island rich in history and culture, and one of the oldest civilisations in the Mediterranean. We'll explore medieval Castles and fortresses dating back to the Byzantine era, travel to the spectacular Troodos
Mountains, and take a 4WD Jeep safari to discover the natural wonders of the Akamas Peninsula. Along the way savour the unique tastes of Cyprus including olive pie making, locally baked haloumi cheese pastries, traditional wines & liqueurs and dinner on a beautiful sunset yacht cruise of the Mediterranean.

Day 1. Depart Australia

Day 2. Arrive Cairo - Giza

Welcome to Cairo, the sprawling capital of Egypt. This evening we’ll enjoy a group welcome dinner in Giza. [D]

Day 3. Giza

Our touring in Egypt begins at the oldest structures in existence, the amazing Great Pyramids of Giza. We’ll also visit the nearby Great Sphinx and discover the ancient capital of Memphis and the incredible Step Pyramid of Sakkara. [B]

Day 4. Giza - Luxor

This morning we fly to Luxor in Upper Egypt. Here we’ll explore the fascinating Karnak Temple, dedicated to the Pharaoh Amun. We’ll then visit Luxor Temple, once connected to Karnak Temple by a 3km-long Avenue of Sphinxes. Luxor Temple is also home to a 25-metre pink granite obelisk, which was part of a matching pair until the 1830s when one was given to France. It now stands in the centre of the Place de la Concorde in Paris. [B]

Day 5. Luxor

Our first stop today is the Valley of the Kings. We’ll be able to descend into some of the tombs to see examples of the elaborate and incredibly well-preserved hieroglyphic paintings. Our next destination is the Temple of Hatshepsut. Queen Hatshepsut was one of only a few women to be given the title of pharaoh. We’ll then visit the Colossi of Memnon. [B]

Day 6. Luxor - Nile Cruise

Embark Cruise: This afternoon we board our Nile River cruise ship. Sit back, relax and watch day-to-day Egyptian life on the banks of the Nile as we cruise by. [B,L,D]

Day 7. Nile Cruise

We set sail for Edfu this morning, crossing the lock at Esna and continuing south. [B,L,D]

Day 8. Nile Cruise

This morning we visit the magnificent Temple of Horus, dedicated to the Falcon God. This beautiful ancient temple is one of the best-preserved in Egypt and the second-largest after Karnak Temple. We’ll then cruise to the riverside Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the gods Sobek and Haroeris, before continuing to Aswan this evening. Tonight we’ll enjoy a traditional galabeya party on board. Day 9. Abu Simbel Excursion

Special Experience: An early start this morning to cross the desert. Our destination is the incredible twin temples of Abu Simbel. The temples were originally carved out of the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BC, as a monument to himself and his queen, Nefertari.

Later this morning we’ll return to the sunny town of Aswan. [B,L,D]

Day 10. Nile Cruise - Aswan

Disembark Cruise: We disembark the cruise and explore Aswan.

Highlights of our sightseeing include the High Dam, the picturesque Temple of Isis on Philae Island, and the Unfinished Obelisk. This afternoon we’ll relax on a cruise along the Nile on board a traditional felucca sailboat. [B]

Day 11. Aswan - Cairo

Enjoy the morning at leisure before our afternoon flight back to Cairo. [B]

Day 12. Cairo

Today begins with a visit to the 12th century Saladin Citadel of Cairo and the Mohammed Ali Mosque. We’ll then discover the 14th century souk, Khan el-Khalili Bazaar. Famous for its handmade crafts, it’s also the perfect place to enjoy a traditional Arabic coffee. This afternoon we’ll continue into the lively heart of Cairo to visit the world-famous Egyptian Museum, home to Tutankhamun’s priceless treasures and many other historic artefacts. This evening we’ll enjoy a group dinner to farewell Egypt. [B,D]

Day 13. Cairo - Larnaca - Limassol

Enjoy the morning at leisure before our afternoon flight to Cyprus. [B]

Day 14. Limassol

Discover the city of Limassol on a full day of sightseeing today. Our day will begin at the medieval Castle of Kolossi and the ancient Kingdom of Kourion. We’ll also visit the Olive Park and try some local dishes over lunch.

Day 15. Nicosia & Kyrenia Excursion

Today we’ll explore the harbour and medieval fortress of Kyrenia, dating back to the Byzantine era. This afternoon we’ll visit the town of Nicosia and discover its 16th century Venetian walls, the Famagusta Gate, and have some free time to enjoy Laiki Geitonia. [B]

Day 16. Kykkos, Troodos & Omodos Excursion

We explore the picturesque Troodos Mountains this morning, beginning at the Byzantine Kykkos Monastery.

Special Experience: The village of Omodos has a long tradition in wine making, and we’ll be able to try a selection of the local wines and liqueurs, including the famous Commandaria dessert wine and Zivania.

This afternoon we’ll visit the local bakery to sample its famous haloumi cheese pastries. [B]

Day 17. Limassol - Paphos

This morning we’ll make our way to the heritage-listed town of Paphos. Along the way we’ll stop at Petra tou Romiou, a stunning beach and birthplace of the legendary goddess of beauty and love, Aphrodite. [B]

Day 18. Paphos

The day is at leisure for you to enjoy this beautiful town at your own pace. Why not head down to the Limanaki (harbour) area? It’s home to quaint shops, restaurants, bars and traditional taverns. [B]

Day 19. Paphos    

This morning we’ll discover the natural beauty of Akamas on a 4WD jeep safari. One of the most beautiful spots on the island, it is also home to the Baths of Aphrodite. We’ll then enjoy a traditional Cypriot lunch at a local tavern. [B,L,D]

At Bunnik Tours we don’t put specific age limits on our tours, but we also recognise some travellers may find our itineraries challenging.
We have a duty of care to all tour participants and the tour guides, so we do impose a firm policy on the level of fitness required by all our clients to attempt to ensure your safety and the safety of other travellers on our tours.
At Bunnik Tours our goal is for all our travellers to enjoy their tour, not struggle through it! Which is why we want to work with you to ensure you are on the best possible trip for your fitness level. We do reserve the right to refuse bookings if we feel that the requirements of the tour are too demanding.
Bunnik Tours are for independently minded travellers with good levels of mobility.

Discover the ancient sites and culture of Coptic Christians throughout Old Cairo. Visit the Hanging Church, possibly the oldest Christian church in Egypt and Abu Serga, a place where the Holy Family rested after fleeing Israel from King Herod. See Ben Ezra Synagogue, one of the oldest synagogues in Egypt. Set in a shady garden, it was built on the site of a 4th-century Christian church.

Islamic Cairo - 3hrs - $47pp US
Visit the Gayer Anderson Museum - two houses from the 16th and 17th century built with a unique architectural style and filled with antiques from all over the Middle East. Nearby is the Ibn Toulon Mosque, one of Cairo’s biggest mosques, built in the 8th century with strong Persian design influences. The final stop is the El Sultan Hassan Mosque, built in the 13th century and considered one of the best examples of Islamic architecture from that era.

Sound & Light Show at Giza - 1hr - $60pp US
The Sound and Light Show at the Great Pyramids takes place on the Giza plateau. You will hear the story of Egypt as seen through the eyes of the Sphinx over the ages, and see the breathtaking sight of the floodlit pyramids lit up under the stars.

The Pyramids of Dahshur - 2hrs - $58pp US
Dahshur forms the southernmost area of the Memphis Necropolis and contains a number of pyramid complexes and monuments. This site was used as funerary grounds beginning in the time of the Fourth Dynasty, where King Senefru built two of his three pyramids: the ‘Bent’ pyramid, named for the angle of the sides, and the ‘Red Pyramid’ named for the red limestone used in its construction. Why not enter? The Red Pyramid is also one of the few pyramids where it is possible to go inside.
