We begin our day with a visit to the temples of Wadi El Seboua. Considered to be some of the oldest in Egypt, they were dedicated by Ramses II to two gods: Amon Ra and Ra Harmakis. This afternoon we continue to Amada and visit its ancient temples including Derr and the Tomb of Pennut. [B,L,D]

We’ll then cruise onward to Edfu where we’ll visit the magnificent Temple of Horus, dedicated to the Falcon God. This beautiful ancient temple is one of the best-preserved in Egypt and the second-largest after Karnak Temple. Continuing our journey, we cross the lock at Esna and sail onwards towards Luxor. Tonight we’ll experience a traditional galabeya party on board. [B,L,D]

Please note: Due to local laws and regulations, the only mode of transport available to visit the Temple of Horus in Edfu is by horse and carriage. Unfortunately, some neglectful owners cruelly mistreat their animals. While our guides always endeavour to arrange healthy, well-treated horses with responsible owners for our transport in Edfu, ultimately it is your decision if you wish to partake in the included sightseeing. If you do not wish to participate, you are welcome to explore Edfu independently, or stay on board the cruise to enjoy the ship’s facilities.

Day 13. Nile Cruise

We’ll arrive in Luxor after breakfast and explore the fascinating Karnak Temple, dedicated to the Pharaoh Amun. Approximately 30 pharaohs contributed to the temple’s structure over time, which explains its monumental size! We’ll then visit Luxor Temple, once connected to Karnak Temple by a 3-kilometre-long Avenue of Sphinxes. Luxor Temple is also home to a 25-metre pink granite obelisk, which was part of a matching pair until the 1830s when one was given to France. It now stands in the centre of the Place de la Concorde in Paris. [B,L,D]
