15 October 2019 will experience the Sun Festival in Abu Simbel

Sun Festival, Special Departure

Sun Festival

Our October 15, 2019 departure will experience this unique event. Ramses II built his temple at Abu Simbel so that the internal chamber would light up two times a year: once on the anniversary of his ascension to the throne (in February), and once on his birthday (in October). Every year on the Sun Festival, crowds gather before sunrise to observe the stream of light gradually sneaking through the stone and enlightening the statuettes of Ramses, Ra and Amun in the central chamber.

Uncover thousands of years of history in three of the world’s oldest and most interesting countries. Tour the wonders of ancient Egypt, explore the sacred sites of Israel, marvel at amazing desert landscapes and discover the incredible Lost City of Petra.

Experience the wonders of ancient Egypt

Our Middle East tour starts in ancient Egypt where we visit all the must-see sights as well as enjoy a 4-night Nile cruise. Highlights of this part of the tour include; the Great Pyramids of Giza, the iconic Sphinx, the unique step pyramid of Sakkara, the Khan El Khalili bazaar, the world-famous Egyptian Museum, the impressive Valley of the Kings, the stunning temples of Abu Simbel and the riverside temples of Kom Ombo.

Tour Israel a land of amazing diversity and beauty

From Egypt our Middle East tour continues to Israel, a land of amazing diversity and beauty. Our touring in Israel starts with a visit to the Diaspora Museum before making our way to Jerusalem. Here we will explore both the new and old cities and enjoy a sound at light show at the Tower of David Museum. We then make our way to Galilee and enjoy a wine tasting at the Golan Winery.

Be amazed by the incredible lost city of Petra

As our Middle East tour continues we depart Israel and cross the border in to Jordan, heading to Aqaba (Red Sea). We then spend time exploring the stunning scenery of the unique desert landscape of Wadi Rum by both camel and 4WD. From Wadi Rum we continue to Petra. The incredible lost city of Petra is a real highlight of this tour and is one of the world’s greatest treasures. Our next stop is the spectacular Dead Sea. At 400m below sea level it is the lowest place on earth! Here there is a chance to swim or float in the buoyant salty waters. Before we depart Jordan there is time to enjoy Amman with a visit to the beautifully preserved Roman cities of Um Qais and Jerash.

Please note: We are sure you will have a fantastic time in Jordan. Marion Bunnik has just finished travelling through Jordan on an inspection visit and has noticed that Jordan has had an enormous influx of tourists over the past couple of years. As a result of this, the infrastructure that is usually enjoyed by tourists in well developed countries can often be stretched and therefore, inconsistent. This may mean that there may be noticeable differences in standards, including vehicles, hotels and guides. Bunnik Tours always endeavours to provide the best touring experience possible and recommends that everyone who visits Jordan, do so with an open mind and flexibility.
