Our ultimate tour of Chile & Argentina starts off in Santiago where we take in amazing city views and visit the famous Maipo wine region. We then journey to the Atacama Desert and Tatio Geysers, a dramatic geothermal field, where we witness spectacular views at dawn!

Rainforest & Volcanoes

We travel into beautiful Huilo Huilo Nature Reserve, set amongst lush rainforest and dotted with picturesque lakes, staying in unique tree house accommodation. As we continue to Puerto Varas, we enjoy more of Chile's amazing wilderness visiting the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes and stopping to enjoy the rapids of Petrohue Falls.

Cross the Bariloche Lakes to Argentina

Experience the serenity of the Patagonian Lakes District and make the famous ferry crossing across 3 scenic lakes to Bariloche in Argentina. Spend the night in the charming village of Puella along the way.

Explore the 'End of the World'

Splendid Patagonia is the southernmost part of the famed Andes Mountain Range. Explore this stunning region on nature trails overlooking breathtaking peaks in El Chalten and visit the advancing Perito Moreno Glacier. Continue further south to incredible Torres del Paine National Park and enjoy wonderful views over Torres Massif’s jagged peaks and mysterious Lake Grey.

Day 1. Depart Australia - Arrive Santiago

Bienvenido a Santiago, Chile’s colonial capital! Meet your fellow travellers for a welcome cocktail this afternoon. We’ll also visit the Sky Costanera observatory, Latin America’s highest viewpoint.

Day 2. Santiago

This morning we explore historic and modern Santiago, stopping at a lookout to take in amazing views of the city. We’ll also travel to the Maipo Valley, Chile’s famous wine region, for a winery tour at Undurraga Winery. Tonight we'll enjoy a group welcome dinner. [B,D]

Day 3. Santiago - Calama - San Pedro de Atacama

We fly to Calama, gateway to the Atacama Desert. The remote area’s landscape is really like no other. We’ll take an incredible sunset tour of the Moon Valley. Dusk bathes the unique rock and salt formations and the Licancabur Volcano in constantly changing light for a mesmerising display of colours. [B]

Day 4. San Pedro de Atacama

Special Experience: Visit a traditional Atacameño farm to discover how produce is grown in the desert, and then try the authentic products of the land at a tasting.

After lunch we discover Salar de Atacama, an immense salt flat covering 3,000 square kilometres. The flat’s surface is decorated by a layer of white salt crystals and is home to several flamingo species - a beautiful photo opportunity. [B,L]

Day 5. San Pedro de Atacama

Witness the incredible El Tatio Geysers as the sun rises over the field this morning. The geysers shoot up to 10-metres-high and reflect countless colours as they mingle with the sun’s rays. [B]

Day 6. San Pedro de Atacama - Santiago - Temuco - Pucón

This morning we fly to Temuco via Santiago and travel to Pucón in Chile’s Lake District. [B]

Day 7. Pucón

Situated on the shores of Lake Villarrica, Pucón’s location is the perfect starting point for us to tour the Villarrica Volcano’s underworld. This morning we explore the tunnels and caves created by a giant lava flow more than 2 million years ago. [B,L]

Day 8. Pucón - Huilo Huilo Nature Reserve

We travel into beautiful Huilo Huilo Nature Reserve, set amongst lush landscape and dotted with picturesque lakes.

Special Experience: For the next two nights we'll be staying in a luxury treehouse lodge in the heart of the Patagonian rainforest.

After lunch we set out on a short hike along the Spirits Trail to the Leone, Huilo Huilo and Puma waterfalls. [B,L,D]

Day 9. Huilo Huilo Nature Reserve

Today is at leisure to enjoy this stunning location at your own pace. You might choose to visit the nearby Chochuenco Volcano, birdwatch or go horse riding. [B,L,D]

Day 10. Huilo Huilo Nature Reserve - Puerto Varas

This morning we depart for Puerto Varas, stopping along the way at the small German settlement town of Frutillar - make sure you try one of their delicious cakes. We’ll arrive in Puerto Varas, the 'City of Roses', later this afternoon and explore the town centre on foot. [B]

Day 11. Puerto Varas

We explore Chiloe Island this morning. We'll get to meet some of the locals, known as 'Chilotes', and learn how their way of life and beliefs differ from continental Chile. [B,L]

Day 12. Puerto Varas - Peulla

This morning we cross Todos Los Santos Lake to Peulla. Todos Los Santos is also known as Lago Esmeralda due to the water's colour and on a clear day we'll enjoy spectacular views of Cerro Puntiagudo and the active Osorno Volcano. [B,D]

Day 13. Peulla - Bariloche

We travel over the Andes and cross the border into Argentina. As we cross the stunning turquoise water of Felix Frias Lake, enjoy the views of the imposing Tronador Mountain. We'll then take a motorised catamaran across Lake Nahuel Huapi to charming Bariloche. [B]

Day 14. Bariloche

Today we discover Bariloche's 'small circuit'. We'll visit Playa Bonita, take the chairlift to the top of Cerro Campanario Hill and travel to the Llao Llao Peninsula to visit the rustic San Eduardo Chapel. [B]

Day 15. Bariloche - El Chaltén

We fly south to El Calafate and transfer to breathtaking El Chaltén, gateway to two of the most impressive peaks in the Patagonian Andes, Mt Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. [B]

Day 16. El Chaltén

Discover this incredible landscape on a full day walking tour. There are trails to suit most fitness levels and weather conditions - our guide will discuss the best option on the day. [B,L]

Day 17. El Chaltén - El Calafate

Sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery today as we transfer back to El Calafate. [B]

Day 18. Los Glaciares National Park Excursion

Day 20. Torres Del Paine National Park Excursion

We spend the day discovering incredible Torres del Paine National Park. Enjoy the wonderful views over Torres Massif’s jagged peaks and mysterious Lake Grey, and discover the area’s flora and fauna. We'll take a short hike to see the magnificent Grey Glacier and also visit the Cueva del Milodon, where the remains of a prehistoric giant ground sloth were discovered in 1895. [B,L]

Day 21. Puerto Natales - Punta Arenas - Santiago

We transfer to Punta Arenas for our flight back to Santiago. Tonight we'll enjoy a group farewell dinner at a local restaurant. [B,D]

Day 22. Depart Santiago

At Bunnik Tours we don’t put specific age limits on our tours, but we also recognise some travellers may find our itineraries challenging.
We have a duty of care to all tour participants and the tour guides, so we do impose a firm policy on the level of fitness required by all our clients to attempt to ensure your safety and the safety of other travellers on our tours.
At Bunnik Tours our goal is for all our travellers to enjoy their tour, not struggle through it! Which is why we want to work with you to ensure you are on the best possible trip for your fitness level. We do reserve the right to refuse bookings if we feel that the requirements of the tour are too demanding.
Bunnik Tours are for independently minded travellers with good levels of mobility.

Our tours include:
1. Generous amounts of free time
2. Lots of walking
3. Local and authentic experiences including various modes of transport and accommodation

In some regions travellers can also expect:
1. Long days of travelling, at times on dirt and gravel roads in Africa
2. Extended periods at high altitude (3,000-4,000 metres) in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Ethiopia
3. Extended periods of walking/hiking through humid forest areas in Rwanda, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Mexico and Costa Rica
4. Limited medical facilities in remote areas

Bunnik Tours travellers are required to at least:
1. Be able to walk 2-3 hours on uneven surfaces
2. Walk up multiple flights of stairs and short, steep hills
3. Stand for 20 minutes without needing to sit down, often in hot/humid climates
4. Carry their own luggage
5. Get on and off various modes of transport without assistance, including small boats

Hotel Solace, Santiago

Featuring a fantastic location, Solace Santiago offers accommodations in the Providencia district of Santiago. Guests will find a seasonal outdoor pool and a fitness centre. The hotel has a terrace and views of the city. Additionally there is a 24-hour front desk. The property is steps away from an array of restaurants and commerce. Costanera Shopping Centre is also just a 20-minute walk away. Merino Benitez Airport is approximately a 25-minute drive.

Tucked away on a gentle stretch of land in the outskirts of San Pedro de Atacama, surrounded by the quiet presence of the Andes, Altiplanico San Pedro faces the impressive Licancabur Volcano, with a unique design inspired in the style of an Altiplano village. Enjoy the famous Atacama sunsets and relax from the sun in the shade of the private terraces or by having a dip in the pool after a day exploring the driest desert in the world! The fresh yet cosy rooms are decorated very simply to give the feeling that the hotel has risen from Atacama and is part of the earth.

Decorated with wooden walls and ceilings, rooms at Nothofagus Hotel & Spa are fitted with large windows and private balconies overlooking the reserve.
