An archipelago of 18 islands located halfway between Norway, Scotland, and Iceland in the North Atlantic Ocean, the windswept and mountainous Faroe Islands (Føroyar) are a hiker’s, and birdwatcher’s, paradise. The colourful and grass-roofed buildings, and greener-than-green pastures, are kept under control by the numerous sheep that freely roam the islands (they even outnumber the humans!).
