At Bunnik Tours, we pride ourselves on our ability to create unique, once in a lifetime small group tours that are filled with incredible experiences you might not be able to have on your own, or in a larger group. However, that does mean aspects of our itineraries can be challenging for some travellers.

We want to make sure all Bunnik Tours travellers enjoy their trip, not struggle through it, so let’s work together to ensure our tours are right for you!

A Bunnik Tour is perfect for independently minded travellers with good levels of fitness and mobility. While we don’t put specific age limits on our tours, we also recognise that some travellers may find our itineraries challenging. We have a duty of care to all tour participants and Tour Directors, so we do impose a firm policy on the level of fitness required by all our clients to attempt to ensure your safety and the safety of other travellers on our tours.

This is why we ask you to complete a fitness to travel declaration, to ensure you are on the best possible trip for your fitness level. Because of this, we reserve the right to refuse bookings if we feel that the requirements of the tour are too demanding.

Fitness to Travel Requirements

Within seven days of your booking you will need to complete a Passenger Registration form, which also includes a Fitness to Travel declaration.

In this declaration, you must confirm you’re able to do the following:

  • I can walk up to 4-5 hours intermittently every day at a group pace, often in direct sunlight, on uneven surfaces without using any walking aid.
  • I can walk up multiple flights of stairs and short, steep hills.
  • I can stand for extended periods of time, often in hot/humid conditions, without needing to sit down.
  • I can carry my own luggage (including to/from hotels which do not offer porterage).
  • I am comfortable using a combined shower/bath (please note that we cannot guarantee stand-alone shower facilities at all hotels).
  • I can get on and off various modes of transport multiple times a day without assistance, including small boats.
  • I can drive along very bumpy dirt and gravel roads for extended periods of time, particularly in Africa.
  • I can manage extended periods of time at high altitude (sometimes 3,000-4,000 metres) when travelling in some regions of Asia, Africa and South & Central America.
  • I understand that my dietary requirements may not be fully catered for in some locations.
  • I HAVE a health condition, such as cognitive impairment, vision/hearing impairment, or other medical conditions (diagnosed or undiagnosed) that may affect my ability to fully participate in tour activities or manage my own well-being during free time on tour. (If you do have such conditions, please provide the details to us.)

It is also important to note there can be limited medical facilities in remote areas.

If you do not feel that you can confidently manage all of the requirements set out above, please speak to our team of Travel Specialists.

Travelling With a Medical Condition

Passengers must inform us and the service provider of any medical conditions which may affect your ability to participate in the tour.

We reserve the right to cancel your booking if any changed or non-disclosed medical conditions mean that you will require special assistance from our personnel which we cannot reasonably provide. We strongly suggest that your travel insurance policy includes comprehensive cancellation coverage.

We will not be liable for any damage, injury, death or loss of any kind arising from your failure to fully disclose relevant medical information or resulting from any pre-existing medical condition.

FAQs

It depends on your medical condition. Before booking, please contact our team of Travel Specialists to make sure you’re medically fit to participate in the tour.

Every destination is different and requires different fitness levels. That’s why it's best to research beforehand to know the risks so you can make informed choices. We also recommend speaking to your doctor beforehand to get advice on travelling with a health condition.

All of our tours require passengers to have a good level of fitness. When you see the walking man symbol in our itineraries, this indicates 2+ hours of walking, often across uneven ground and in areas of high altitude or heat and humidity. Please speak to one of our friendly Travel Specialists to work out if our tours are right for you.
