Seriously, pinch us! On November 6, something extraordinary happened. A small group of Bunnik Tours travellers on our Egyptian Discovery tour stepped into history — quite literally. They were among the very first 15 people in the world to stand before Tutankhamun’s legendary golden mask in its breathtaking new home, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).

The Nubian Museum in Aswan, Egypt, stands as a testament to the rich cultural and historical heritage of Nubia, a region that stretches along the Nile River. Established in response to an international campaign initiated by UNESCO in 1960 to save the ancient monuments, the museum's significance is rooted in preserving and showcasing the legacy of this ancient civilisation.

Just short of 20km northwest of Luxor on the Westbank of the River Nile, lays what can be considered one of the most significant examples of ancient Egyptian architecture, The Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut.

The amazing Valley of the Kings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site containing more than 60 burial tombs of Kings and prominent figures of the New Kingdom – the Eighteenth to Twentieth Dynasty (c.1550–1069 BC). Here you can find the tombs of some of the most famous pharaohs such as Tutankhamun, Seti I, and Ramses II.

As an experienced world traveller, for some reason the Middle East was a destination that I figured I’d always get to, just later. After 10 days in Egypt I can honestly say the time to go is now!

Egypt has been a passion of mine for many years, and it never ceases to hold me in awe. From its ancient wonders and impressive scenery to its warm and welcoming people, I love it a little more each time I visit.

The Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa may not be Egypt’s most well-known attraction, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth a visit! This fascinating architectural masterpiece is a blend of Egyptian, Roman and Greek cultures that provides great insight into the history of Alexandria.
