Some things to note

Some things to note icon

Please note:

  • Ramadan is observed from 28 January to 27 February 2028 (Tentative Dates).
  • Women will need a head scarf to enter some mosques and temples, and wear modest clothing that covers knees and shoulders. Also, it’s a good idea to pack a spare pair of socks in your daypack, as sometimes shoes need to be removed when entering and the ground can be hot. There can be a lack of shade when visiting sights and attractions, so a sturdy hat and sun protection is also an absolute must.
  • Travel through the Esna Lock is subject to river traffic and local conditions which means we may pass through the lock during the night or have an extended wait prior to entering the lock.
  • The luxury Nile cruise is not a private charter and is shared with non Bunnik passengers. Due to the limited space for docking along the Nile, ships bank together when stopped. Therefore, in some cases, you may need to walk through as many as six ships to enter and exit our cruise ship.
  • Travel through the Esna Lock is subject to river traffic and local conditions which means we may pass through the lock during the night or have an extended wait prior to entering the lock.
  • The surface of Amarna is largely unpaved desert and there is little shade. The North Tombs are accessible only by high staircases without handrails. The Royal Tomb involves a descent down a staircase and ramp (both with handrails). The floors inside the rock-cut tombs are often uneven.
  • The Beni Hassan tombs are reached via a long steep flight of stone steps up the hillside (approx 250 steps), from where there is a magnificent view up and down the river valley.

Optional excursions:

  • Timing & practicability of optional excursions are subject to several external factors, such as internal flight timings, weather & traffic conditions. For optional excursions ex Cairo, post-tour accommodation is recommended to allow sufficient time. Further optional excursions not listed may be offered by your guide throughout the tour.
  • All optional tours are based on a minimum of 2 participants (unless otherwise stated) and are subject to availability. The length of tours advised is an approximate only. Tours can be booked on tour directly with your Tour Director or guide. We recommend arranging the booking at the beginning of the tour to avoid disappointment. Please note some optional tours may also be available on multiple or alternate days. Prices are a guide only and are subject to change without prior notice. Payment by cash is preferred as there are no guarantees that credit card facilities will be available. Please check with your Tour Director or guide locally for information relating to this. Let's Talk Fitness

At Bunnik Tours, we pride ourselves on our ability to create unique, once in a lifetime small group tours that are filled with incredible experiences you might not be able to have on your own, or in a larger group. However, that does mean aspects of our itineraries can be challenging for some travellers.

We want to make sure all Bunnik Tours travellers enjoy their trip, not struggle through it, so let’s work together to ensure our tours are right for you!

Fitness to Travel Requirements

Within seven days of your booking you will need to complete a Passenger Registration form, which also includes a Fitness to Travel declaration.

By competing the Passenger Fitness to Travel Declaration you confirm you:

  • Can walk for 4–5 hours per day at a group pace, often in direct sunlight and on uneven surfaces, without using a walking aid;
  • Can walk up multiple flights of stairs and short, steep hills without assistance;
  • Can stand for extended periods, including in hot and/or humid conditions, without needing to sit down;
  • Can carry your own luggage (including to/from hotels where porterage is not available);
  • Are comfortable using a combined shower/bath (note: stand-alone showers cannot be guaranteed at all properties);
  • Can get on and off various forms of transport, including small boats, multiple times each day without assistance;
  • Can negotiate archaeological sites, which are often uneven and unstable;
  • Can tolerate extended travel on rough, unsealed roads;
  • Understand that dietary requirements may not always be fully accommodated;
  • Do not have any mobility or medical condition (whether diagnosed or undiagnosed) including cognitive, mobility, vision, or hearing impairments, that may affect your ability to safely participate in tour activities or independently manage your well-being during free time on tour without special assistance from our (or our suppliers’) personnel.

If you have a health condition, such as cognitive impairment, vision/hearing impairment, or other medical conditions (diagnosed or undiagnosed) that may affect your ability to fully participate in tour activities or manage your own well-being during free time on tour, you will need to provide us with more details.

If you do not feel that you can confidently manage all of the requirements set out above, please work with our team of Travel Specialists to find an alternative that is better suited to your current level of fitness.

Please visit our Fitness to Travel page for full details on our fitness policy.
